MSc Economics with HME major

The History and Methodology Group's expertise is reflected in its teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level. The Department of Economics at the University of Amsterdam offers a one year MSc Economics programme with a major in "History and Methodology  of Economics". The major requires that students take at least half of their MSc credits (30 out of 60 ects)*  in the major field, including a thesis of 15 credits.

In addition to a major, students must choose a minor specialisation (10-15 ects) from one of the following fields: Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, International Economics, Public Economics, Monetary Economics and Financial Institutions, or Development Economics.

The department operates on a quarter system (15 ects in each quarter). The fourth quarter is devoted to the MSc Thesis.

*    Ects is the standard EU credits measure. Two ects stands for one US credit.
