The Amsterdam History and Methodology Group is located at the Amsterdam School of Economics of the University of Amsterdam, and specializes in historical, methodological, and philosophical research in economics and its history. The Group originated in 1975 under the leadership of J. J. Klant, an early influential founder of the field of economic methodology, and has since continued its research with other internationally recognized individuals in the field. The Group currently includes Marcel Boumans, Mark Blaug, John Davis (Chair), Federico D'Onofrio, Albert Jolink (Pierson chair), Harro Maas, Tiago Mata, Mary Morgan, Geert Reuten, and Andrej Svorencik.
The current research programme pursues a methodological approach to the change in economics from past to recent economics. The Group runs a regular seminar series, supervises Ph.D. dissertations in the methodology of economics and the history of economics, and encourages interested individuals to contact and visit the Group in Amsterdam.
